This stunning rosette once graced the bridle of a finely turned-out carriage horse, repurposed over 100 years later as a highly unique and collectible piece of modern jewelry.

This is an excellent example of glass bridle rosettes from this era –dogs and horses were the most popular by far – and is in good antique condition. Glass rosette with bridled buckskin horse head in a red background, vintage saddle brown tooled leather strap.

Rosette is circa 1880s, cuff is circa 1970s. Cuff measures 8 ¼ inches long x 1 ½ inches wide, adjustable 6 ¾ - 7 ½ inches, rosette measure 1 ¾ inches round. This Rosette is featured in the book Bridle Rosettes, Two centuries of Equine Adornment by E. Helene Sage.

How this defines the urban equestrian: Bridging the gap between the era of the horse for utility and the current era of pure enjoyment, statement pieces like this remind us of the long history horses and humans have shared together.
