Once beautiful adornment for the carriage horse bridles, these fabulous rosettes have been repurposed into statement pieces for the modern equestrian enthusiast. Brass rosettes were not as common as the more colorful glass rosettes and represent the earliest examples of this type of bridle decoration.

Usually Created with metal alloy –a mixture of 2 or more metals (usually nickel and copper)– these rosettes were not only beautiful but durable. Good luck horse shoe in artistically rendered detail with textured frame to add depth, thissymbol is sure to bring the wearer luck! Smooth leather cord is versatile, from wrapped bracelet style to shorter necklace to longer pendant style.

Rosette is circa 1880s. Cord is adjustable 8 – 18-36 inches, rosette measure 1 ½ inches round. This Rosette is featured in the book Bridle Rosettes, Two centuries of Equine Adornment by E. Helene Sage.

How this defines the urban equestrian: Repurposing traditions to fit into our modern life allows us to experience the past with new eyes, and surround ourselves with reminders of how the horse has played a significant role in our history.
