Description

Fabulous adornment from the early 1800s thru the 1930s, fashion had a hold of Victorian society with these highly artistic and collectible bridle rosettes.

Showcased like modern day jewelry, the most finely turned-out carriages were sure to display these baubles as a show of trendy opulence. Repurposed for beautiful relevancy today, this glass bridle rosette certainly makes a fabulous statement piece. Glass rosettes were some of the most popular rosettes to collect and animals were highly sought after.

Unbridled buckskin horse head in a red background, smooth leather cord is versatile –from wrapped bracelet style to shorter necklace to longer pendant style. Rosette is circa 1880s. Cord is adjustable 8 – 18-36 inches, rosette measure 1 ¾ inches around. This Rosette is featured in the book Bridle Rosettes, Two centuries of Equine Adornment by E. Helene Sage.

How this defines the urban equestrian: Repurposing traditions to fit into our modern life allows us to experience the past with new eyes, and surround ourselves with reminders of how the horse has played a significant role in our history.
