Description

With a lovely artistic face reminisce of the desert-bred Arabian horse, this lovely Glass Rosette once adorned the bridle of a well-appointed carriage horse. This is an excellent example of glass bridle rosettes from this era, with dogs and horses being the most popular by far. Lovingly repurposed into a stunning piece of modern jewelry this antique rosette is sure to become your most interesting statement piece.

Beautiful chestnut horse head with white blaze, long forelock and white throat collar in a red background, two-toned tooled vintage belt leather cuff in oak and black with brass snaps. Rosette is circa 1880s, cuff is circa 1970s.

Cuff measures 8 ¾ inches long x 1 ½ inches wide, adjustable 7 – 7 ¾ inches with the rosette measuring 1 ¾ inches around. This Rosette is featured in the book Bridle Rosettes, Two centuries of Equine Adornment by E. Helene Sage.

How this defines the urban equestrian: Holding onto old traditions and icons of past lifestyles revolving around the horse assure that the long history of the horse and human will be remembered and preserved well into the future.
