This durable, lightweight vest was used as a layering piece under a proper riding suit in the 1920s, something the proper Equestrian gentleman was sure to wear. A Sulka & Co was established in New York in 1893 by Amos Sulka and Tailor Leon Wormser, who were known for high quality custom shirts and vests made of silk and wool.

A favorite of the well-dressed rich and famous of the era, including the Duke of Windsor and Clark Gable, Sulka was long the favorite haberdashery of the Carriage Trade as well. Using fabrics woven in their own mills in Lyon, France, they outfitted burly men for firefighting, hunting and equestrian sports in their early days in New York. Made from a lightweight wool/silk blend in a Grey merle color, full button front, simple trim and hem with no collar, straight-square cut, beautifully finished seams, no holes or damage but it has some light discolorations along the front placket and probably could use a good dry cleaning or hand wash by its new owner. Made in USA, size 44, 1920s.

The following measurements were taken with the garment lying FLAT and recorded in inches, please be sure and DOUBLE the appropriate measurements: Shoulders: 17, chest: 22, waist: 22, length: 24.5 Size: 44
